Due to the ongoing situation with Coronavirus (COVID-19) we are taking measures in line with the guidance shared by NHS England and Public Health authorities to minimise risks associated with the virus.
The Surgery is open for the collection of medication and prescriptions. If you need to come to the surgery please wear a face covering. For other medical needs please contact the surgery by telephone and your health needs will be assessed.
Covid-19 Vaccine: The vaccine will be offered to those most at risk from Covid-19, starting with older people living in care homes and those over 80. People at highest risk and who have been informed they are clinically vulnerable will then be prioritised followed by the rest of the population, who will be offered the vaccine in a phased approach in age ascending order.
We will contact patients to invite and book their vaccination either by phone or text message (you can book your appointment directly, using the link encloised in that text message), when the vaccines becomes available and they become eligible. In the meantime unless you have been contacted, please could we kindly ask you not to contact the practice for information about the vaccine as it may stop someone who needs urgent medical help getting through. The Covid vaccination is being provided by trained NHS staff, there is no charge and we will not ask you for any payment or for your bank details.
What to do if you have symptoms?
This will help to protect others in your community while you are infectious. Families should isolate for 14 days. Those who develop symptoms, after 10 days and if they are well, they can return to normal activities.

You do not need to contact NHS111 to tell them you are staying at home. You will not be tested if you are self-isolating with mild symptoms.

Rescue Packs: We have been aware of some inaccurate information circulating regarding special 'rescue packs' for patients with pre-existing respiratory conditions such as asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). We are not currently changhing our usual advice about emergency supplies of antibiotics and steroids. The reason for that is we understand neither would help in the early stages of a Coronavirus Covid-19 infection and people might delay seeking advice if they become increasingly short of breath.
Please do not contact the surgery for a resuce pack. You should continue to manage your condition in the usual way and if you feel you have symptoms of Covid-19 visit 111.nhs.uk/covid-19 before doing anything else.
Inhalers: We are getting increased demand for inhalers from people who have not had inhalers for several years. This is not recommended and inhalers should only be restarted if your symptoms have returned. Please only request inhalers if you are currently using them and please visit Asthma UK www.asthma.org.uk or British Lung Foundation www.blf.org.uk for further information.

Appointments are pre-bookable up to 12 weeks in advance. We will try to meet your needs where it is possible, sometimes there is a longer waiting time if you ask for a specific clinician. We operate a daily call back service. (Monday to Friday.)
When you contact the surgery the receptionist will take your name, address and contact telephone number and will also ask for a brief description of why you want the appointment with the doctor or nurse, (this information is optional) but it helps the clinicians that may ring you to prioritise the telephone calls and is very helpful.
As a dispensing practice we are able to dispense medications to patients from Flockton, Emley and Grange Moor only. All other patients can collect prescriptions and take to a pharmacy of choice or patients can nominate a pharmacy of choice for their prescription to be collected by the pharmacy or sent electronically.
Pharmacies are no longer able to order repeat medications. Repeat medication must now be ordered by patients and there are a number of ways you can do this:
For those on authorised repeat medication you can order online via SystmOnline, see receptionist to get your access information, bringing 2 sets of identification with you. Online repeat medications can be requested up to 10 days in advance. However, medications are generally on a 28 day cycle and advanced requests will only be available for collection from the practice dispensary or your nominated pharmacy 28 days following the collection of your previous medication.
For urgent or emergency medication during normal opening hours please contact the practice on 01924 237100. If the practice is closed please call 111 and you will be directed to the West Yorkshire Pharmacy Urgent Repeat Medication (PURM) Service.
When you contact the surgery the receptionist will take your name, date of birth, address and contact telephone number and will ask you if you can give them a brief description of the reason for your call. This information is optional but it helps the clinicians that will ring you to prioritise the telephone calls and is very helpful.
There are receptionists dedicated to answering calls, aided by other administration staff at busy periods. Please note that telephone calls may be recorded for training and monitoring purposes.
